POST SECONDARY SUCCESS COORDINATOR

Position Summary

The Postsecondary Success (PS) Coordinator manages year-round programs for participants, ensuring consistency with the mission, culture, strategic plan and philosophy of C5 Youth Foundation of Texas. The PS Coordinator designs and executes experiences for youth, including signature summer experiences, weekend events, workshops, and activities throughout the school year. The PS Coordinator is responsible for overseeing delivery of curriculum and college and career preparation activities consistent with C5 Texas outcomes. In addition, the PS Coordinator serves as a member of the Program Team, working together to deliver college and career experiences for all C5 Texas youth.

The PS Coordinator is responsible for overseeing delivery of a comprehensive curriculum during signature summer experiences and at weekend events throughout the school year, to guide all students in their high school class selection, academic success and extracurricular involvement.  In the early years, youth experience college and career exposure activities as a part of their Pathways and summer camp activities. In the later years, youth are exposed, engaged and supported through college and career opportunities such as the Road to College Tour and the ACT Now Summit, and the yearly Leadership Summit held for all C5 Leaders. The PS Coordinator will lead and manage the Road to College Tour, ACT Now Summit for youth grades 11 and 12, and all C5 Leaders at the Leadership Summit. The PS Coordinator The postsecondary success coordinator is also a part of the C5 selection team, working with our community partners, students and families to recruit and select new teens to join an incoming class each year.

SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITIES

HEAD COUNSELOR POSITION – C5 Summer Experiences
CAMP LEADERSHIP U/U2

This position is responsible for supervising cabin counseling staff as they guide campers into their leadership exploration Head counselors focus on large group management and leadership and work with counseling staff to deliver a quality experience aligned with C5 objectives and program outcomes. Requires facilitation and supervision experience.

Responsibilities:

Assist in implementation of counseling staff training

Coach and supervise up to eight counselors

Facilitate C5 Leadership curriculum

Monitor camper progress and coach counselors on managing camper behavior

Evaluate counselor performance and provide feedback

Actively engage youth at all times

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum 21 years of age; at least two years of college education

CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become CPR/First Aid certified

Experience in youth development

Experience in a supervisory role

Experience mentoring and advising youth

Prior camp experience a plus

PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR – C5 Summer Experiences

Lead and assist rising Juniors explore and engage on college campuses. Facilitate meaningful conversations surrounding applications, financial aid, and campus culture on a tour hand-crafted by the cohort.

Lead and assist rising Seniors as they research and present on a social advocacy initiative, selected and led by the cohort.

Lead a majority of leadership curriculum and activities throughout the day, helping young people connect camp activities to C5 outcomes.

Staff will provide supervision as students participate in a state-wide road rip. Applicants should be prepared to be on duty most hours of the day and evening and be prepared to coach and mentor youth in college selection process.

Staff will provide supervision as students participate in on-campus research, seminars and planning sessions. Applicants should prepare to be on duty most hours of the day and evening, and be prepared to coach and mentor youth in research module provided by C5 Texas.

Instructors will also assist with 24-hour operations (supervision, administrative duties, etc.) and in cabin coverage throughout the week.

Responsibilities:

Deliver program curriculum as assigned

Facilitate and personalize current lesson plans

Tailor new lesson plans as program permits

Create a learning environment conducive to experiential learning

Youth supervision and behavior management

Actively engage youth at all times

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum 20 years of age; at least two years of college experience

Experience mentoring and advising youth

Experience in curriculum delivery; including presentation and facilitation skills.

CPR certified or willing to become CPR certified.

Experience in youth development or college advisement.

Seven-week work assignment starting at the end of May until mid-July.

CABIN COUNSELOR – C5 Summer Experiences

These staff members directly build and maintain relationships with each of our students. Coaching our first and second year students as hey develop essential leadership skills. Counselors live in cabins with their assigned group of young leaders, participate in leadership programming with their cabins and provide feedback on a weekly basis to each young person, helping our young people connect camp activities to C5 outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and meet campers’ needs
  • Supervise all aspects of each camper’s day
  • Plan and deliver programs for individuals cabins and camp programs
  • Function as a team with other camp stuff
  • Fulfill administrative duties

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age; at least 1 year of college experience
  • Experience mentoring and advising youth
  • Experience in curriculum delivery, including presentation and facilitation
  • Supervising and leading nightly activities
  • CPR certified or willing to become CPR certified.

SUPPORT STAFF – C5 Summer Experiences
CAMP LEADERSHIP U/U2

These staff members provide support to all program staff of Camp Leadership U. Support staff will also assist with 24-hour operations (health & safety, administrative duties, etc.) and in cabin coverage throughout the week.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that program materials are organized, available and in working order
  • Perform basic maintenance
  • Fulfill basic safety and health requests, such as providing water and supplies for activities
  • Provide secondary coverage of youth
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age; at least 1 year of college experience
  • Experience mentoring and advising youth
  • Experience in curriculum delivery, including presentation and facilitation
  • Experience in youth development

HEALTH CARE COORDINATOR – C5 Summer Experiences
CAMP LEADERSHIP U/U2

We are searching for an outstanding individual to join our Summer 2022 program team as the Health Care Coordinator at our our first and second summer experiences, Camp Leadership U and Camp Leadership U2. This position begins on June 20th – July 16, 2022

C5 Texas changes the odds for high-potential youth by inspiring them to pursue personal success and preparing them for leadership roles in college, work, and their communities. We are a dynamic youth development organization uniquely positioned to provide youth from risk-filled environments with a comprehensive curriculum focused on leadership, character education, college and career access, and community action. Our curriculum is based on an experiential learning model, delivered through a combination of immersive summer experiences, weekend programming during the academic year, and mentoring for five years from the end of 7th grade through high school graduation.

The Health Care Coordinator helps provide and maintain a safe and healthy environment for the young leaders we serve.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

Provide first aid care for campers and staff

Oversee the administration of medications to campers and staff

Coordinate visits to a physician when needed

Monitor health and cleanliness standards

Organize paper work and maintain file organization

Help provide adequate physical health conditions for all

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

Valid Texas MD or RN license

Youth experience required, Camp experience a plus
